Q: I am waiting on NHS physiotherapy  - will this affect my progression up the list?

A: We are often asked to see clients who may be on a waiting list for NHS therapy input. Receiving private physiotherapy input will not affect your place

on this waiting list and can be helpful in getting you started with therapy whilst you wait on NHS input. 

Q: We already have an NHS physiotherapist. Can we have input from both?

A: We are very happy to work in collaboration with any involved NHS therapists and work hard to ensure that good communication and shared goals are

at the heart of what we do, ensuring the best possible outcome for you or your child. 

Q: Do I need a referral to be seen by Movement Physiotherapy?

A: You do not need a referral to be seen by Movement Physiotherapy. Once you make contact with us we will arrange to have an informal chat over the phone

and work out if an assessment and input from Movement Physiotherapy is right for you or your child. 

Q: My child does not have a diagnosis. Can you still treat them?

A: Many children do not have a formal diagnosis. This does not stop us from providing highly effective therapy. We base all our input on the outcome of a thorough

assessment of abilities and function, and plan specialised therapy input based on what we see. This process of assessment and treating is on-going throughout

our sessions and therefore is not prescriptive nor dependent on diagnosis or cause. 

Q: I have heard about a specific kind of therapy. Can you provide this?

A: Movement Physiotherapy staff are trained in a wide range of therapy techniques and are always striving to be at the forefront of new advances, and aware of new

technologies and equipment available. We are forward thinking and innovative and will provide a range of different therapy techniques. If there is something specific,

we will always be happy to discuss new techniques and work out if it is something that would be appropriate to try with you or your child. If we cannot provide a particular therapy that you are interested in we will help to signpost you a reputable provider for further discussion.


Q: Do you work with any other private health care professionals?

A: We have close links with a range of other private and highly specialist medical professionals including speech and language therapists and occupational therapists and can provide joint

therapy sessions if this is appropriate and something you would like to consider. We will happily suggest and discuss working with other agencies and therapy providers if they are considered to add to value to each client.

We also work closely with a private Orthotist, offering joint sessions or input in to Orthotic provision, as appropriate. 

Q: Can I use my private health care insurance to pay for sessions?

A: We are happy to liaise with you and your health insurance providers to work out if private physiotherapy sessions are something that can be provided and funded.

We already have several health insurance providers that we work in partnership with. 

Q: Can I use charitable funding to pay for therapy sessions?

A: Yes. We can create an agreement with the holders of your charitable funds to ensure that invoices are accepted and paid directly by them. 

Q: Are you still working during the Coronavirus Pandemic?

A: Yes we are very much open for business and as health professionals are exempt from the lockdown restrictions. We have been supporting our families using both face-to-face and remote methods since the start of lockdown. Where face-to-face sessions are assessed as being the most appropriate method of input, we will ensure that every measure is adhered to in ensuring that a COVID-safe environment is achieved. We are also still utilising video to provide live 1:1 therapy sessions; pre-recording individualised video sessions, and providing written therapy programmes. We can also do assessments using video links (where appropriate) and are happy to receive and review video footage from individuals in order to help design specialised physiotherapy programmes. 

Q: Will you be wearing PPE during face to face sessions?

A: Yes. We are now wearing PPE which is over and above the basic requirements as set out by Health Protection Scotland in order to optimise the safety levels for ourselves and out clients. We will be wearing FFP2 medical grade masks, gloves and aprons as standard, and will also wear a visor where it is appropriate and safe to do so (where not at risk of being touched or pulled at by a child or imposing on any handling). We will also wear a visor if there is an increased risk of droplets in the air – i.e. if someone is coughing or at risk of vomiting. PPE will be put on and removed at the start of and end of each session and disposed of appropriately. This will be done along with thorough hand washing/use of hand sanitiser. All adults who are present during sessions will be asked to wear a medical grade mask (Type 11R -fluid resistant) if able to do so which can be provided if required.

Q: What other precautions are you taking in terms of Covid19?

A: In accordance with our governing body the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) and the Scottish Government, we will continue to follow the ‘virtual first’ guidance – supporting as many clients as possible using virtual methods. Where this is not possible, we will screen and triage each individual and their family and have direct discussions to ensure that the associated risks of face-to-face working are understood and that every effort is made to minimise such by both parties. Adherence to appropriate infection control guidelines will also be of utmost priority. We will launder all our workwear using the guidance from the CSP and Health Protection Scotland. In addition, any equipment which  is used during a session will be thoroughly cleaned before and after use with appropriate disinfectant.

Privacy Policy- Movement Physiotherapy

At Movement Physiotherapy, we are committed to maintaining the trust and confidence of our service users. In particular, we want you to know that we do not share any of your personal details with other companies or businesses for marketing purposes. Furthermore, we are committed to safeguarding the privacy of our service users and website visitors, and this Privacy Policy will provide detailed information about how we do this.

For the purposes of this Privacy Policy “You”, “Your” and “Client” can represent either a client/service user or a client’s guardian (E.g. a parent of a child using our services). 

Types of Data we collect and how it is used:

Personal information: In order to provide the best quality of service, we do require personal and sensitive data to be collected, stored and processed about our clients. This includes information given by a client when completing contact forms, accessing our services, emailing, or speaking to one of our staff. It may also include information collected about other professionals, suppliers or service contractors. All data will be stored, retained and processed (in line with GDPR guidelines) on one or more of the following grounds: with a client or guardian’s specific consent; where data retention is necessitated by a contractual relationship; or on the grounds of being a legitimate business interest. Information may also be obtained regarding Next of Kin/Guardians/Family members pertaining to the Client on the basis of it being a vital interest. If appropriate, they should be made aware of this Privacy Policy.

Personal and sensitive data may be used to:

  • Assess, manage and record physiotherapy diagnosis and treatment.

  • Communicate information regarding physiotherapy services and costs.

  • Arrange or rearrange appointments.

  • Discuss with you regarding future appointments and/or physiotherapy management.

  • Discuss any changes to you or your child’s medical wellbeing or management.

  • Communicate with other professionals (including GPs, Case managers, Healthcare providers, insurance companies) only when necessary and with your consent.

  • Liaise with you regarding services, contracts, payments and/or invoicing.

  • Communicate changes to our business practices or the services we offer.

  • Internal training and Audit purposes (information would be kept anonymous).

Social Media: We publish information about our services on social media channels such as Facebook. We will not publish any personal/sensitive information about you on social media without your consent. We do not collect information about visitors to our social media accounts, but this may be collected by a third party or by the social media channel themselves. For more information, please refer to the Privacy Policy of the social media channel concerned.

How the information is kept safe?

The security of your Personal Information is important to us, but remember that no method of storage, transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your Personal Information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

As a healthcare provider, we have a legal obligation to retain client notes for a period of time prior to secure disposal. For all clients who are no longer seen by Movement Physiotherapy, information is retained until 8 years after the last contact date. For all clients under 18 years old and no longer being seen by Movement Physiotherapy, information will be kept until they are 25 years old. Sometimes this information may be kept longer as a legitimate interest in cases of any medical investigation.

Remote/Video consultations

Remote consultations are being offered to clients during the COVID19 pandemic, in line with guidance provided by the Information Commissioner’s Office, the National Data Guardian and NHS Digital. This permits the use of video conferencing platforms such as Zoom, Facetime etc., where a secure connection is used, and appropriate security features are in place. All information obtained from these sessions will be stored and used in a secure manner within client files. 

How can you access and update your personal information?

You have the right to access the information that we hold relating to you and can request this in writing at the address above. You also have the right to ask to amend any inaccurate information that we may hold and for us to correct this in a timely manner.

What to do if you are unsure or unsatisfied? 

You can request that we no longer use your personal information for some aspects of our service and that this information is erased from our records. Please note that your right to request this cannot override the legal requirements to keep medical notes for the mandatory periods.
